Portfolio

As a designer i like to push the boundaries, taking most of my inspiration from Issey Miyake and his pleats please collection, i thrive from learning new skills and interpreting them to create a more innovative final outcome. One of the predominate reasons i chose to do fashion as a subject is because i love the way in which fashion unlike any other industry actually encourages you to have the freedom to be an individual and to create your own style yet at the same time, despite this freedom still has the ability to control almost every aspect within society: clothing having the power to manipulate your mood self confidence and even have an affect on the way in which you are judged within society.

Doing my foundation at Ravensbourne has further encouraged me to approach my work from different angles and to challenge what i perceive as good fashion design, really helping me to develop a broader style and inspiring me to challenge the way i develop my designs through a range of different media's and through illustration. By constantly having a new challenge or skill to learn it has only inspired me even more to pursue my dream to become a fashion designer that is unique and un-paralell to anyone else within the industry.

The main reason i chose Manchester as a choice was because I particularly liked the fact that the course was alot broader then most of the courses around and predominantly encouraged students to be more innovative within their design outcomes, but at the same time also encouraging and helping to develop skills such as styling and pattern cutting so that i would not only develop myself as a unique designer but also enable me to develop as a more rounded
designer.
